I tend to think less of adults who are picky eaters

Great, then you'll enjoy the chocolate scrod with pickled soybean spread we're serving at the party tomorrow.

I don't mind fussy eaters as long as they've actually tried something they don't like.

What I simply cannot abide are philistines that go: Oooh I don't like indian food / calamari / brussel sporuts / etc... and when you ask what they don't like about it they answer: "I'm not sure, I've never actually tried it"

My brother is a prime example actually. He'll flat out refuse to eat tonnes of great food without even knowing what it is or what's in it and then when he finally tries one or two of them, he inevitably enjoys it and has missed out on some good eats for years.

This is the man who managed to dislike a sirloin steak

I think the picky eaters I dislike most are the ones who decide they don't like food because of how it looks:

like I actually heard somebody say "Ewwww ribs? They're all black and bloody....blech"

I have no problem with fussy adult eaters as long as they plan accordingly and don't make the rest of the group suffer because of their dietary requirements/desires.

I'm a vegetarian. :embarrassed:

Perfect example. I was a vegetarian for near a decade and vegan for part of it. When I went to a cookout at someone's house, I bought my own soy dogs or burgers (or I just ate acceptable sides). No bitching, whining or annoying commentary was necessary on my part.

:hmm:

I am on a mission to undislike all the foods I dislike. I've conquered olives, working on pickles now.

My wife will sometimes tease when I order things a certain way, but it's only because I prefer them that way. If they mess up and put mayo on it or something, I don't freak out and I'll still eat it. Picky eaters are like my oldest daughter that if she sees a tomato on anything she'll wrinkle her nose, throw the food down in disgust and will refuse to eat as if someone bricked on her sandwich or something.

Also, I'll always try new food... even if it's digusting looking or exotic. The only things I refuse to eat are Mushrooms (alergic to some kinds), Hotdogs (Ugghh... seriously... puke..), and Brussell sprouts (how did they get a vegetable to smell and taste like an old gym sock I'll never know).

One of my favorite things to do is go to a fancy restaurant and order something I've never tried. Most of the time, I enjoy it. Sometimes I find it to be good, but nothing that I'd normally pay a premium for.

And sometimes I feel like I'm glad I tried it, but I'll never have the desire to eat it again.

...and Brussell sprouts (how did they get a vegetable to smell and taste like an old gym sock I'll never know).

They didn't cook them right, that's how.

Everyone who doesn't like broccoli, cabbage, greens, spinach, and brussell sprouts has probably only had nasty, overcooked/underseasoned versions of these foods. Brussell sprouts sautee'd in butter until just tender are deeeelicious.

I love broccoli, like cabbage when it's in something, I like spinach especially in sandwiches, salads, or pizza.... but brussell sprouts... ugh. I've had them fresh out of the garden... I've tried them at restaraunts... just ugh.

Greens are one of those foods where it's either really good or really bad, not much inbetween.

The only food I can think of that I actually dislike is mayo based salads. I've gotten to the point where I can dig a little mayo on a sandwich or in a little cole slaw, but mayo based salads (egg salad is the worst one) I cannot abide.

Other than that I'll eat, or at least try, pretty much anything.

I was coming in here to say basically the same thing.
