2 questions for our American friends re:: the final

- why is it customary for singers to go OTT for the US national anthem at big sporting events? As an outsider it sounds ridiculous and verges on ripping the piss just to show off your chops. As Mrs jbj observed - how are you meant to sing along to that?

- that stadium is a monster and clearly has parking for 10,000+ vehicles. What's it like getting in and out of a venue like that for a gig or sporting event?

Of FFS they've now rolled out tom cruise and a Luis Vuitton case for the trophy. :chow:

Ancillary question but do you guys actually like and enjoy all of this tat?

Robbie Williams in a blue sequened trackie is a bit much and now you've got the Buggers introducing things!

It's a lot of money to plough into something which, and this might be my Brit cynicism coming through, is really tacky and pointless, the Superbowl must be even worse.

#1 Because ridiculous OTT drama gets noticed.

#2 I’ve only experienced big venues in Arizona, Colorado, California, Nevada. It can take an hour or more to get out of the parking lot at some venues after concerts or sporting events. Getting in is much faster.

It was utterly fascinating to see a half-time show for once. Would be very happy to keep it at once :embarrassed:
You clearly weren't at Ibrox last season under Russell Martin when they dragged out Derek Johnstone when he'd got right in about the hospitality. Quality Halftime show :embarrassed:

I turned the sound off during halftime and fixed food. There have not been great halftime shows in recent memory.

The best halftime shows have legendary rock bands play. In the past ZZ Top, U2, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and The Who have played NFL Superbowl halftime shows.

You’re not supposed to sing along to “The Star Spangled Banner” because it is a shit song. Thats why we have a number of alternative anthems like “America the Beautiful,” “God Bless America,” and “Sweet Caroline.” We even do a Weird Al version of “God Save the King” called “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” as a bizarre troll.

For years I used to live across from a high school stadium... God help me every time I have to hear that dreadful tune.
