Mental health check-in

Just fucking angry about everything.
My only suggestion is to triage everything that messes with you. The shit that you can't do anything about (big world problems, politics, etc...) can be shoved onto the back burner.
The problems that can't be worked on until later can be set aside until their time has come.
Removing these leaves some time and energy to deal with the front burner shit.

YMMV

Strange new old age suckage discovered. For about the last year, my dreams (at least the ones I remember) are never pleasant. They are always of some sort of anxiety inducing situation. Anything from the relatively benign scenario of heading to a college final exam for a class I've not attended and did not study for, all the way to the almost nightmare of helping someone dispose of a body.

These dreams (and a full bladder) wake me up. What sucks is that the fight-or-flight adrenaline response from the anxiety keeps me awake for hours. I have found that a shot or two of whiskey takes the edge off so that I can eventually get back to sleep.

Mojo. I have those occasionally and have even died a few times. Once awakened, I have difficulty getting back to sleep.

I am not in a good place right now. Not at all. I was doing fine until I got a email from my mortgage company telling me that my escrow is projected to have a $4800 shortage so my mortgage payment will increase by 21.5% on November 1. I have no fucking idea where I am supposed to get this money. I don't have the savings. I live on disability. I guess I could change my diet to air and water. How far can I get on that??? Does anyone have an extra $5k lying around that they want to contribute to a good cause??? Oh, and my 62nd birthday is on Saturday. Happy fucking birthday to me. I'm surprised I'm not dealing with SI right now.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Real estate taxes and/or insurance rate increases are killing people all over the place. This is a crisis without any viable way out.

I was able to knock down the latest county appraisal piracy by using realtor.com's "RealEstimate" value on mine, lowering the value by $29,000. Maybe you can shop insurance companies.

Between my property taxes and insurance, the total increase was less than $300 over the course of a year. The problem was with a miscalculation when I refinanced last year. Not enough was initially withheld for escrow. I'm still responsible for that money. But I got them to spread out the shortage over 5 years instead of one. That makes the increase affordable while I continue to look for a part time job to pay off some bills. At least I can afford better food than ramen.

I'm exhausted and have mixed feelings about a lot of things. For the past 12 years I was president of an all volunteer depression and bipolar support group chapter. I've been having a hard time with facilitators either not stepping up to facilitate or signing up to facilitate a group. I understand the ones who can't. They are tending to sick parents, working odd hours, etc. My problem is with the ones who won't sign up in advance and commit to facilitating the meetings. Last night, one person was facilitating our Thursday night group in the Loop. We need 2 people at those meetings because the attendance is usually pretty large and we need to break into two groups. One of the people who lives just south of the Loop backed out at the last minute because he was "too tired". He didn't try to arrange a replacement in the group chat. So I was left with one facilitator for that group. I live about 20 minutes away but don't normally attend that group because downtown parking is expensive and I have a very limited budget. He has done this before, but there are usually backups in attendance. I found this out at 5:50. The meeting starts at 6. Nobody responded to my texts. So I had to step in at the last minute. To complicate matters, there was a shooting on I290 last night so the road I usually take was closed. So I had to drive over the city. It took about 30 minutes. In that time, nobody bothered to text the group saying that someone stepped in at the last minute. I lost my temper. I sent a text to the group stating that after our meeting tomorrow, I'm out until the end of the year and I'm done running the group. I just had it with begging people to take responsibility for something they volunteered for and always having to step in to make things work. I've been in a leadership position with them for 16 years and president for 12. I kept things running through the plague and managed a merger of two chapters. I helped start groups with members who moved to Texas and India. I've written emergency procedures to handle people that come to meetings during psychotic episodes or people who come to meetings who are suicidal or homicidal. I just can't do this anymore. I just want the groups to be facilitated. That's really all I ask. So I'm finally stepping down. They will need to figure it out without me even though I'll still step in to advise if asked.

Sorry to write a book with this post but the back story is important.

I'm sorry to hear that but good for you being assertive and doing what's right for you.
