The Honda Super Cub. It’s the most popular vehicle in many developing nations. Like the AK-47 it’s a great design to rip off so there are lots of knockoffs out there, and that means that there’s also always a supply of parts.

It's a perennial question.

Let's check what our elders had to say:

I'm going to go with 'Little Honda'.

I have to go with Yamaha on this one. Sure, Honda can make cars, and even a business jet, but Yamaha makes more things that impact my life. I'm sitting about feet away from a pair of their monitor speakers. Like everything they make, they are considered to be an exceptional value, and deliver exactly what one expects for such a product. They make really nice guitars too.

It is interesting from a corporate perspective how these brands make so many diverse products and seem to deliver high quality across very different areas.

Yes Honda makes great stuff but they don't have the broad spectrum that Yamaha has.

Honda makes lots of things with engines so they generally stick to things in that one field. Cars, lawnmowers, ATVs, motorcycles, someone said jet(!?), wicked snowblower. Almost everything that they make is of excellent quality.

Yamaha does the motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, someone said stereo equipment of which I have owned some ( those Natural Sound amplifiers are great), their monitors which someone also mentioned (I have a pair of powered MS10 I think from the 80s or something), they make keyboards and pianos and guitars - I still have a black and gold label acoustic. Drums, wind instruments...

So as much as I love Honda products, right back to my first car (a 1981 Civic) to my first new car (1989 Civic), Yamaha gets the nod by being more diverse yet also by being known for the same high level of quality associated with their name.

Both companies also have activity in much less obvious areas to consumers like Honda's robotics and Yamaha's semiconductors.

As does Yamaha.

True, but as a counterpoint Honda makes cars
True. Yamaha did a lot for other automobile makers, but couldn’t really get their own brand off the car show floor. They recognised that they were a newbie in a very mature market and didn’t have anything that would differentiate them from the competition.

For the poll, I choose Yamaha. They have more that would directly impact my life. As for cars, I have zero interest in Honda’s cars. The first model in North America was cute and different, but that’s where my interest ends.
This is not a “furin car” or “Japanese car” because “‘muricuh” thing. I just don’t find Honda cars all that appealing. Besides, I’m Canadian.

Both companies make a pretty equally amazing array of quality products. Honda used to be a very innovative company but it seems like they've become a more conservative company in the past decade or so. Many people speculate that they lost their innovative edge when Soichiro Honda passed in the 1990s

Yamaha for me.
I'm partial to Yamaha motorcycles. Love their guitars too. Both make top notch delpendable products.

Sir Mix-a-lot had a lot of fun saying Honda.

Two of the best. Honda's Marc Marquez and Yamaha's Valentino Rossi.
