Escape.

That is an amazing performance of an amazing song.
I have soured on Journey of late (for reasons I won't go into here), but they are responsible for a shit-ton of great songs.

A reminder that Journey at their peak was capable of slipping in some amazing music between the bland commercial stuff. And dang Steve sounded amazing in that video.

Not into JourneyV2

Gimme something from the first 3 and I am good.

I love the first three Journey releases....but they were not making any money nor getting much airplay. The V2 switch was a planned strategy with their manager. It worked financially. Artistically - a mixed result.

Yes, though I do remember quite a bit of local airplay on KOME. I know they made a bunch more money going away from prog and focusing on their soon to be core audience of 16-24 y/o females. I know, I was there. Saw them live numerous times in the late 70's. I really liked Gregs vocals, but understand how Steve upped the ante. I just wasn't part of their target audience anymore.

I was listening to the same station at the same time. Look To The Future was my jam. Unfortunately never got to see them live prior to Steve Perry joining.

Meh, Greg Rollie's voice sounds like Christine McVie after taking two taking Valium and huffing a can of compressed air.
Who wants to hear that in front of a rock band?

It worked for the progish, jamish early Journey stuff quite well. But his voice was hardly Top 40 material for sure.
