I found this Kickstarter project: heavy metal headphones. On paper they should be great but $149 seems suspiciously low for headphones engineered better than gear that costs far more. Thoughts?

They will retail for 219.00...the 149 is for kick start members...
Conceptually they are pretty interesting...but I doubt they are using top shelf components...there are any number of ANC knock off headphones available for sub-100.00 prices and I'm sure these will be using the same tech as those...they don't have to go through any effort to achieve any level of sonic purity or reference level flatness since they are looking to tune to a pretty sonically dimension-less and scooped genre...plus they don't have to minimize or eliminate distortion to any level needed in high-end headphones...
Once you factor all that in then achieving their goals at that price point shouldn't present them with any difficulty...
