How many people here own (or have owned) a Suhr?

It's a guitar that has always eluded me.... they were too expensive with no local dealers....

.. the first time I ever even played one was in Nashville (and it wasn't a typical example).

Yeah.... 7 strings with a scalloped board.

I know that @mosiddiqi had a Suhr strat and Tele instead of Fenders and really loved them... and @mystixboi1 has owned a few of the natural Moderns.

What are your thoughts? Worth the price of admission... or just a boutique cork sniffer guitar?

I believe he still has that... and I know that @mystixboi1 just bought a Suhr half stack. I've used Suhr pickups and know they were top notch, I've heard their fret work is stellar, but I'm very interested in their different neck carves and such.

Yeah... I used Pete's pickup comparison to decide on the Duncan '78 set that I recently got for my 594, but the Thornbuckers are super intriguing. I've never heard a bad clip with those pickups (but then again, people who can afford those guitars usually don't record shitty demos. )

I'm Suhr they make fine instruments. I own a Suhr Riot. I think that's the only Suhr I will own.

did have a Valley Arts Strat a long time ago. (a la Larry Carlton).
and one of the first 2 PRS Customs in town (1988).

I played a bunch during the gear quest I went on before buying my tele. They’re nice. They’re fine. Ultimately not what I was looking for

I remember you had a Suhr Strat... did you have their Tele also?

I had one of the first Silver Drip Moderns. Gotoh FLoyd, Aldrich pups and a 400 year old certified maple neck with no finish, ss frets. Great guitar.

AND I had this Modern...hated it. Suhr pups...dead , lifeless and kinda ugly.

I have a JM model. Great guitar, but I wouldn't have bought it if it had the original headstock.

I owned another modern, besides the modern satins that I have owned. Out of all of them, the non-modern satin was my least favorite. That being said, for me, suhr, makes the best super strut out there. But I guess when you get up to that price point, it’s really about preference.

The first thing I noticed when I got my first modern satin wasn’t that I thought I had been missing it for my entire life. It was that I found I was playing for hours without even realizing it. It felt like a well worn pair of jeans. Just an incredibly comfortable guitar that is a bad ass work horse

I don’t like strats and I wouldn’t pay that much for a bass. So no Suhr for me.
