I feel better about playing guitar now

I guess I just needed to post my whinny post and get some good words from you guys. I played for about an hour last night and it actually sounded like music!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Still gonna consider some group lessons at Swallow Hill though.

Cool man! I actually played a little bit last night too. . .and realized I need to practice more :embarrassed:

Glad to hear you're back into it and enjoying it again, that's the main thing!

I'm going to try to get started recording something soon too. Haven't had much luck in the past, and what I record I'm sure won't amount to much, but I'm planning on getting started soon too, and at least begin the learning process.

Right on! I need to figure out how to record something.

The cheapie Line 6 interfaces seem to get you the best bang for the buck...mine is the M Audio M Box mini and it was $299 with Pro Tools LE, Reason, Ableton Lite and a bunch of other stuff...definitely makes things more fun...

I should look into the whole computer recording stuff, but for now i have the tascam, its cheap and easy to mess with.

I've just got a cheapie Behringer mixer that I run into the line-in of my sound card into Reaper. . .good enough for rock 'n roll biggrin

I just got the Line 6 Toneport UX1 for $69. It comes with Abelton Lite for recording softwar but I am probably goint to try Reaper as well.

Very hard to beat it for the money. I am using it with the free GTR Solo from Waves as well as the Line 6 Gearbox and having a great time. I just need to get a mic now and I'm all set.

This seems to be the most cost effective rig I seen!

I have a Tone Port and Ableton (is that the name?). Never figured out how to use them though.

Ableton isn't that hard to use - I figured it out after a bit of trial and error...

*feels dumber then he did 5 minutes ago*

:embarrassed:

Just kiddin...ice fishing season is almost over so I will have a little more time for some lessons and figuring out recording stuff.

I just got it a couple of weeks ago. The Toneport is quite easy once you get the software all loaded up an updated. It was actually a bit of a pain.

I havent loaded the Ableton yet so I dont have any info there. I am thinking about trying it out this weekend though.

ok. I think that is a good idea. Let me see how the Toneport reinstall goes this weekend!

*feels a sudden surge of fear and adrenaline (my spelling is awful)*

Yeah, its a bit scary, but we all have to start somewhere. Its just easier when we suck at 13 years old, instead of 43 years old. hahahaha.

But im in. I'll start working on it.

I've posted my suck on a couple of occasions. It's kind of like ripping a bandaid off. You just close your eyes and post it.

Honestly, it was the guys in this forum who were very helpful and encouraging. I'm in. I am even trying to see if I can write another song for the songwriting contest.
