Japan’s Underwater Powerhouse: 1.1 MW Tidal Turbine Activated

Japan has taken a significant step forward in renewable energy with the successful deployment of its first megawatt-scale tidal turbine, the AR1100. Installed in the Naru Strait, this 1.1 MW tidal turbine represents a major breakthrough in marine energy technology. As Japan moves towards a sustainable, fossil-fuel-free future, tidal energy is poised to play a crucial role in the country’s energy transition.

This latest achievement builds upon the success of the AR500 pilot project, which demonstrated the viability of tidal energy with a 97% availability rate. With the AR1100 now operational, Japan has entered the global race to harness ocean power on a large scale.

Very cool but, belongs in politics thread. Yes, it is stupid that it's political but, one party is opposed to doing anything that makes sense.

Wind has been coupled with waste. Dominion power increased our monthly $26 a month when it’s wind project started 5 years ago and notified me via letter. This wind farm was built off the coast of Virginia Beach.
This month they notified me again that they are going forward with the intent of raising the monthly bill again another $26 a month due to fuel prices. Area fuel is down from the last 4 years in our area. Prior to the wind far my monthly power bill was $75.

In addition to wind we have solar farms in the area 3 to 5 acres each and just outside of town Dominion is eyeing another 170 acres. Even though the solar farms are right here they do not support my community nor does the wind farm. I don’t know why or how it doesn’t but we were informed it does not. We just get pay for it.

Couple weeks ago when I checked Dominion stocks were a shit show recommended not to buy I have about 100 shares that I’ve had for a while. Dividends continue to be steady.

So this water thing, will it work like projected? I hope it does. I wish it all worked like projected but swear In the US I think it’s more a government grant money grab. It’s frustrating.

So far solar and wind costs more to the customer and does not support the ares they are located and the solar fields they are on once grew food and grazed cattle right up until the construction started.

This turbine works underwater. As far as I know, that has nothing to do with wind.

As for supporting the community, energy is produced where it one can produce it and sold on the open market. It may come as a surprise, but oil recovered from Texas doesn't all end up in Texas. The natural gas being fracked out of NE PA and SE PA doesn't all stay in PA. We don't live in closed systems.

No but our home area gets turned into an ugly POS and we pay more out of pocket That is wrong.

If I had the bucks, I'd try a bladeless or maybe a helix wind turbine for the house.
