Nashville tuning question..

Dexter Inferno

Serious error
I have a cheap acoustic I bought 20 years ago, that's been sitting unused for yonks.
Thinking about doing the Nashville tuning on it, which would be really useful in the studio.

But the thing I'm curious about is...has anyone done that without having to replace the nut on the guitar? Would like to know before I actually go about doing it.

I've done it with a stock nut that was cut for regular string gauges with no problem. Try it that way first...if it buzzes consider the nut. BTW Nashville tuning is an incredibly cool sound in a mix. I love it.

I can't remember if I've done it on a regular guitar. I have an old 12 string, and every time I restring, I leave off the heavier strings and mess around w/Nashville tuning fora few weeks. I feel like I've seen people using little bits of paper in the nut if a string is buzzing.
