Question: ORI20H vs DSL20HR

I'm seriously considering one of these for my new 2-12 Origin cab, but I'm torn.
The Origin head gets mixed reviews, people seem to love it or hate it. I hear some people online getting absolutely lovely tones with it with greenbacks and humbuckers. But then again, a lot of people seem to be getting absolutely horrible sounds out of it and really diss the thing.
The DSL seems way more versatile and gets good reviews all around, but it doesnt seem to do what I hear with the Origin/Greenbacks. If I was gonna do modern metal the DSL is the obvious choice, plus its cleans seem more pristine and hifi. But I dont really do modern metal and I have My Carr and Bassman for cleaner things. Im kinda looking for that classic 70s-80s Marshall rock sound.
Im sure the 20w Studio heads made in England are much better than either but I dont really want to spend 2 grand on a head for a rig I'll probably play 25% of the time.

Anybody have a ORI20 or DSL20? What's your opinion of it?
Are the 40w versions worth the extra $s?
Are there other brands at similar price points that do the Marshall thing convincingly?

I’ve owned both the origin and a couple different DSLs. I did not like the Origin at all. I’ve really liked the DSLs. I gigged a 50 for a year or so and owned a 15 for a while. The DSL on its own has a great clean channel and the gain channel is more JCM 800 than plexi. The clean channel takes pedal great.

New Head and Cab Day! DSL20R/Origin 2-12.
Like it a lot, but the 70/80 speakers are indeed very meh. Not terrible, but not very inspiring either.
Saving up for a couple of greenbacks. Collider sounds great in the effects loop!

How is the DSL20? I’ve had the 50 and 15 and loved them both.

Have you ever tried Warehouse speakers? Little cheaper than Celestions and I like them more.

I’m liking the head quite a lot. Totally different vibe than the Carr or the Bassman.
I will prob go Warehouse for the greenies, but I’m a Weber fanboy so I might pay a little extra for their version.

I like Weber better than Celestion too. I have the warehouse ET65 in a cheap hot Rod deluxe extension cab and I swear it’s the best sounding cab I’ve ever owned.

Nice. I have a bunch of speakers that I'm not using. Don't really know what I have. Maybe I have something that you might like. I know I have a couple of WGS, and a pair of Vintage 30's.
