Help!I'maRock!

holy shit my arms hurt today. i did day one of the 100 pushups and 200 situps site yesterday. i finally started to feel sore before i went to bed last night and woke up this morning really sore.

i got on the elliptical this morning and could only go 10 minutes before my feet hurt. so even though i said i'd skip days, i do need to push on the elliptical at least some every day to get my feet back up to it. (stupid flat feet  )

Stretch, stretch, stretch. People seem to think it isn't worth the time but it is. It helps remove acids from your muscles that are a by-product of exertion. Stretching and water and you'll be much less sore. I promise. :thu:

oh, i stretched. i'm just a marshmallow getting started. i'll be back to normal in a few days, i just have to work through it.

Help! - you're doing a good thing. you just have to keep it up. I think I will go in on this with you and I will do at least 50 push ups every other day, because they really are great at getting your arms and back into shape. I will also make myself do the sit ups, as much as I hate them. I want some good abs.

Maybe you can help me keep on track and I can help you. If I know I have to report to someone, maybe I'll actually do it. idn_smilie

Would you tell this to Prages, please.

i'd be happy to report here. i usually post on another forum i'm on, but they don't really care. so if you're willing, then so am i.

if you haven't seen the 100 pushups or 200 situps sites, then check them out. honestly, i can't even do a situp right now. i had to do jack-knifes yesterday, which i learned from the Wii, because my sorry ass is 30 pounds overweight. so i'll do the jack-knifes for now and start doing instead of nothing at all.

also, any clarification on the differences between "warming up" and "stretching" would be helpful. i usually just kinda go, which is probably what Prages does too.

I hate stretching. I am and have always been very inflexible. Even back when I was playing and they made me do it every day. I always felt worse playing on days that I spent time actually trying to stretch. I always did best doing some jogging and warming up type exercises. Plus, static stretching before warming up muscles is really not good.

That said, stretching after a workout is said to be very beneficial, which is what I think you were talking about. I never take the time to do it but I am not a role model. idn_smilie

I guess that is kind of the point I was trying to make. Just doing regular static stretching with no warm up is no better than just going ahead and doing the pushups. Doing some stretching after would probably help with soreness though.

Warm up can be maybe 10-15 minutes of jog or brisk walk, on a bike, treadmill, or anything like that. You are basically looking to move large muscle groups (like legs and in my case butt) to create some blood flow and raise heart rate. That helps warm up the muscles throughout your body. You can throw in some arm circles and some trunk twisting type of movements etc. I basically like to warm up until I am starting to break a sweat. Then I work out.

right now, what you consider a warm up IS my workout. really starting from square one here.

That looks like a great program! I should start this - along with my Marines bound son. Throw in a bit of jogging and I will be in awesome shape - OK - good shape in not too long.

I need to buy those pushup handles though because my wrists hurt like crazy when I try to do a regular pushup...

So, all I see is 100 situpsa a day, like, you just out of the blue did 100 situps at once??? Ouch. Just ouch. I wouldnt even try this. If youre way out of shape like I am, that could seriously injure you.

I'll work my way up to it. :embarrassed:

That is the same square we all start on. Dont get me wrong, I am not yet in any real condition other than cycling and even that has gone in the crapper lately.

It sounds like you are commited to it so you will see gains very quickly at first.
