Dew Knot Humps
fancy sound-measuring doodad
A friend asked me for a quote on some painting work at his house so we agreed on a number and then I said "or instead of money I will do it in exchange for that guitar I sold you 36 years ago." After some thought he said he was cool with that but I should check it out first to make sure I wanted to do the deal. So I got it last night, it's a 1977 Telecaster that was modded when I bought it with a brass nut, metal chrome pickguard, stainless steel compensated saddles and a Duncan Hot Rails. The brass nut is gone and he had it re fretted at some point. I bought it in 1985 and played the hell out of it. I also replaced the stock neck pickup with a Duncan Quarter Pounder.
The guitar is how I remember it. It's a fire breathing rock monster than annihilates the preamp section of most tube amps. It's definitely not a twang banger and it's heavy as hell, 10.3lbs.
l played it a ton when I owned it and put some miles and wear and tear on it. Over the years it's aged beautifully, better than any intentional relic I've ever seen.
I don't really need it but why not?
