Only had one, so the Rock N Roll Hoochie Koo only took me so far.Since I met my wife at 19 and got married at 21 I never got to experience the whole "friends with benefits" routine. Thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through you!
Rick was a prodigy. Hang On Sloopy at 18 years old, produced several Johnny and Edgar Winter records starting around age 23, and had a solo career plus side jaunts with folks like Cyndi Lauper, Steely Dan, and Weird Al. I lived and breathed his Derringer Live album for a while as a teenager learning to play guitar.
I finally got to see him live a few years ago. It was kind of a weird gig. A large food festival downtown, and the stage was across a small lake from the festival, so you couldn't see the band very well, but the sound was amazing. He played Frankenstein, Free Ride, and Hoochie Koo among others, and killed on all of them.
RIP.
I think Rick also wrote the song Real American for Hulk Hogan. Gone too soon.
Short story: I had a good friend with benefits that had a stripper body but didn't really appeal to me facially because she reminded me of a cross between Cyndi and what I pictured (pre Google 1991) a young Lucille Ball to have looked like, so I played her cool after our first interlude for two whole years before I PCSed. We had two more sessions right before I left.
I now realize as an older man how pretty both of those ladies were.
Of course, then again, that lady was also not a good permanent partner for a few good reasons. She was a "free spirit" while I've always been a serial manogamist. Good hang out friend though. But at least I could have utilized my option a bit more. Lol
Oh yeah, I know. She'd be 58 now and I'm no spring chicken at 54 either. I'm not stepping out of my marriage anyways.
