Serious downsizing - and a bunch of HNPDs

Dexter Inferno

Serious error
A couple of years back I did a gig with the Queen tribute band I'm in, and realised I had to do something about the pedal situation. This is how it looked like:

Just too much gear. Ridiculous really.

So I've now come up with a much smaller/easier way.

Just need to add a chorus pedal, otherwise this is pretty much done. Depending on if I'm gigging with the Queen band or the AC/DC one I use the Jims 800 or the DC30 (both TC/Ampworx pedals). And the whole board (except for the RC5) can go either into my Marshall's FX return or direct to PA - or both. And with midi control, the RC5 can easily do the same as I used my old RC200 for, which is usually song intros, fx and odd pre-recorded harmony guitar part.

Love it when a good plan comes together
Love the TC/Ampworx pedals (or preamps to be precise). Seriously good sounding, and a great backup in case of tube failure. And much less stuff to bring to gigs and rehearsals. I'm getting older you know.

I've not jammed with anyone in years (let alone played in a band), but that new set-up looks super lean and clean.

It looks like you have just enough space on that board to have both tc ampworks pedals and a Boss CE-2 sized chrous pedal. Seems an ideal set up not just for your needs between the Queen and AC/DC bands, but one that would cover a ton of ground in general.

HNPsD!

I really need to start exploring MIDI.

MIDI is really useful, and not as hard to figure out as many think. I'm typically not doing really complex stuff, usually just simple program change messages to change presets on the HX One and RC5, and the odd control change for starting loops on the RC5.

That is true. I can get through most gigs with this setup really. And for the more complex stuff I have the big board with the Boss ES switcher.

How are you connecting the Ampero, Bluetooth to the HX One and TRS cable to the RC-5? Interested as I have a some old school 5 Pin Din Midi stuff and not used to these new fangled things. :old:

I go 5-pin midi from the Ampero to the HX One, and then 5-pin to mini TRS (Roland/Boss has great cables for that) into the RC5.
Editing on the Ampero Control is done on my phone via Bluetooth. The app is really good and very easy to use.
