Found this little gem in the vinyl collection one of the places we stayed this summer. Good times!

Thanksgiving when my parents were still alive and hosted for all of us... me, my wife, our two daughters, my sister, her husband, and all five of their kids.

Their eldest boy was being very quiet so after the looooong table was all set and all the plates of food were dotting the length, my sister asked him to say grace for the table. He stood up, opened his mouth and.... :puke: all over his plate and the table cloth.

There was screaming, people running to grab towels, got him cleaned up and laying down in a spare bedroom to rest.

Everyone just kind of shuffled around, kinda pale, trying to process what happened. I made a huge plate with turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn... and happily started eating at the other end of the table all by myself. :helper:

When my daughter started crawling, I had to do something about the stairs. House is a tri-level, half dozen steps going down, next to half dozen steps going up. I couldn't find a baby gate over 6 feet wide so, I cut a sheet of plywood for it. Wife was not happy that I attached it to the wall with hinges and wouldn't let me put a latch one the other side. So, I put a case of Coke up against it. Done. She just moved it out of the way like she had seen us do, so many times. That's when we started calling her Bulldozer Girl. For Christmas, we got her something similar to this-

The box was gigantic. Wife took her up to her room so I could bring it in and wrap it. Got it done and wife brings her back to see. I still need to get it to the Christmas tree and was worried I would rip the paper if I tried to pick it up so I slid it. Obviously she jumped in to help Dad. Probably my favorite video to watch.

In 1987 my parents got me one of those cheesy 1980s ghetto blasters with a five band graphic equalizer for Christmas. I was fucking thrilled. The next day all I wanted to play on it was Michael Jackson’s Bad. So we went to K-mart to blow my allowance and…it was sold out. I was one day short of nine years old and did not know that there were stores that just sold records I could have gone to. So I went looking for some other album, and, for a reason I cannot explain, I chose Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet. That album changed my life; after that I just wanted to listen to rock and roll. And I often checked Bad out of the library. Anyway, I listened to that Bon Jovi tape for almost a decade. Along the way I picked up on death metal, black metal, groove metal, etc.. So God bless Bon Jovi (and Desmond Child who wrote the good songs!). Last year I tried listening to it again and, holy shit, it is pure eighties cheese and barely listenable. But it made me who I am, and if it hadn’t, I might not have turned The Boy into a little metalhead.
