Newsflash! The 2015 Recordingfest Reveal!

A lot to check out here, good turnout. I'll be checking these out tomorrow my time probably as I have morning shift and have to get up at 4 after the festivities.

Ans to be clear up front yes, I know I'm not Bono.

rsadasiv: Very cool and trippy. The vocals reminded me of Donovan, which is a compliment from me. :hippie:

micwalt: As usual, great vocals and instrumentation. Very professional sounding.

Knox in Box: You captured that U2 sound well. Wonderful job.

Chicken Man: Ready for Christmas was a cool song, well played and sung. Ham was fun, reminded me of a mix of Todd Rundgren's Bang on the Drum and Bowie's Fame.

Stomias: 251 fin2 had a real Chicago sound to it, well done. Rye w_o seeds sounded like it came from the soundtrack of a Beach Party movies. I could see Annette and Frankie walking down the beach.

mnewb1: That was some wonderful playing and a great feel to the song.

Psychotronic: Great playing and feel; very professional sound.

Kerouac: That sounded like it would have been on an early John Lennon solo album. Great arrangement.

Rsadisiv: Dig the feel and the jazzy chords.
Knox: Takes me back--nailed it!
Chicken: First one has an Elvis Costello vibe. Ham is brilliant!
Stomias: I second the Chicago vibe on 251 fin2. Really digging the slide stuff on Rye. Beautiful.
Gary: Still Alive is lovely. Great imagery on To a Dreamer.
Mnewb1: I dig your use of instrumental layers.
Psychotronic: Love it! I'm getting a Donny Iris vibe, and that's a good thing.
Kerouac: Fantastic job!
Smurfco: Very cool! There's an unexpected change in the chorus that really grabbed me. Killer guitar break too.

Thanks guys! Ash and I are headed off on a NYE road trip, but we'll listen to these in the car!

As for mine it was real quick and dirty; Collings dread mic'd with a Shure SM81 and into an Apogee Ensemble. Solo was improvised and there are a few bum notes. Vocals were an SM57 and one take; I have a cold, but that just makes me sound more like Lemmy... :(

I had literally gotten my rig back up and running last night and knocked the whole thing out in about an hour. Wish I could have taken some more time to mix, but it's there and it's raw. Thanks to @Gary Blanchard for the early Lennon comparison. :)

I'm trying to get some stuff done before I split so I can't go song by song but these are all great with special mention to Kerouac, Gary's sweet song to his wife, and rsadasiv being my favorites. But they're all good stuff.

Listened to the first two so far.

RSADASIV:Nice job, love the dry sounding guitar and feel of the track. Original?

Micwalt: As usual great job. I was expecting Soundcard when I clicked the track, but got something else which was nice. (Because it leaves or open for me to butcher in the future)

As for mine, that is the new Harley Benton tele with the Tonerider set into a Joyo American Tone and an Artec Analog Delay, (Letting the cheap Shit shine). Vocals were the test vocals and sound unrehearsed because, well, they were. It was ambitious for me though, those that have followed me through the years know that. As it is I'm not totally embarrassed by them, the guitar was the main reason to cover it though, just had to do those Westminster chimes ring for once. :)

We apologize for my entry - it's going to be the big ballad on the next aliensporebomb record. The basic tracks (bass and drums) were mostly done live at Art-a-Whirl 2014 I think, most of the lead guitar, synth and texture tracks were done later in the studio much more recently. The title references "boom anime babes that make me think the wrong thing" in the parlance of the Barenaked Ladies band or you can google the term:

Great job everyone. Excellent turnout and ex@stomias I don't think I've heard your stuff before, but I dug it, especially the soul groove and the vocal arrangement on that first one.

Happy New Year!

Lush!

Going further down the line.

Chickenman: Had a hell of a time figuring out the hosting site. Liked both of the songs but the second one touched my soul since it deals with a theme that hits me where I live bro'.

Stomias: I listened yesterday and liked what I heard, espc #2. The links don't seem to be friendly to my device today and I got 2 different songs. Strange. Maybe I should try a different browser for my headphone critique. Anyways, as I said they sounded good on my little cell phone speaker.

Gary: Nice job as usual, though I'm not a folk type fan I still like your work.

Mnewb1: Damn. I really dug the song. Was that a cover or original? I could google I guess, but I'm lazy.

Kwak: Beautiful man. Did you just work thast up after his death? Guess you knew the song already.

Smurfco: linky no worky

HIaR: I liked that. Good sound you guys got in that closet.

ASB: Reminds me that I have to make good on my promise to myself to make more atmospheric backgrounds to solo over in caustic. This sounds great.

rsadasiv: love that song and dig your cover
micwalt: wow, excellent song, and really good production, good mastering!
Knox in Box: excellent job, that takes me back to when I was a younger man listening to U2 for the first time
Chicken Man: Christmas has a bit of a TP and Heartbreakers vibe which means I totally dig it. Ham...what did you use for that awesome analog bass? This is very Moogy! totally digging this...stinky analog bass line playin MoFo!
Stomas: 215_fin2 digging the horns on here, RYE w_o seeds, loving the slide and chord changes, emotional piece
Gary: I am definitely liking these two songs, a singer-songwriter tradition
Psychotronic: really liking this! I'm thinking CBGBs late 70's. Really strong work!
Kerouac: excellent! I don't listen to Motorhead so I am not familiar with the song but excellent vocal/acoustic recording and mastering, performance has a lot of heart.
Smurfco: sorry link did not work when I tried it
HelpImaRock: good solid song
Aliensporebomb: holy shite...whatever reverb you used on this, I need to get! Atmospheric heaven!

HelpImaRock: That is a very cool song. I like that a lot.
Aliensporebomb: The whole feel on that is amazing with great playing.
