Velcro or zip ties to attach pedals?

Yes, that's Oolong. :)
So I'm redoing my board a bit, got rid of a Boss compressor and added a Wampler Tumnus. I don't have any velcro right now and due to the position of the Tumnus I really can't zip tie it... so I've put a zip tie around the connector between the Tumnus and the adjacent pedal (tuner which is also not velcroed). The connector isn't a cable it's one of those Planet Waves solid connectors with a jack on each end.

Having that connector zip tied to the board does put a bit of pressure on the output/input jacks on the Tumnus and tuner pedal... is this something to be concerned about? Just got the Tumnus and don't want it's jack messed up!

And more generic question, do you use velcro or zip ties to attach your pedals? Velcro is cleaner and looks better but you're "stuck" with it on the bottom of the pedal. Zip ties are easier and more flexible it seems but don't look as good and can scratch the pedals. What say you?!?

Velcro. Every time I zip tie the cabling underneath my board, I change something and undo it all anyway. And I say "when I'm in a band again, I'll get everything straight" but I know that won't happen either.

Velcro. I had a board and tried zip ties and hated it. Could never get the pedal to stay exactly where I wanted it to and it was a pain in the ass if you needed to change pedals. I think most people who use pedals, have a pedal board and most use Velcro, you you aren't really 'stuck' with it on the bottom.

I would not zip tie the pedal on the connectors, you are asking for problems with the jacks. I don't like those solid connectors either, with stepping on the pedals to turn them on and off, you end up creating pressure on both pedal's jacks.

It can. If there is any give to the board or the rubber feet on the pedals or.... when you stomp on one or the other pedal, things are going to move. Repeat a bazillion times, and you'll see some wear.
A lot? Will it hurt? Who knows - to be honest.

Then again, that zip tie might actually be reducing movement...

I use velcro. I change stuff up way too often.
The only thing I have zip tied is the power supply.
The only problem with velcro is it just doesn't stick well to certain pedals. Especially mini pedals with an uneven bottom. When you pull em off the velcro comes off the back and stays stuck to the board.

I zip tie. I perform with a wooden pedal board in keeping with my band's aesthetic, and the velcro adhesive doesn't stay stuck to the wood finish. Each pedal is zip-tied individually through a space in the wooden slats.

OK...I have to know. What's the aesthetic that requires a wooden pedal board? :)

this will hold your velcro down.
