thanks to the media coverage a record number of you are hyped out of your minds regarding the bombing, but if you look at your outrage and grief in this instance compared to the number of people injured and killed you would find it grossly out of proportion compared to other recent events. bombs are scary, but so are all of the shootings in SF recently, and yet I do not see the fear or sadness of those events reflected in your facebook posts.
when will you recognize that your feelings are manipulated by the media and by the value we place on certain places or events over others? when will you stop allowing yourself to feign such empathy or at least not get sucked into the emotional tidal waves that the media produces?

I tried watching ABC "breaking news" online. Now they are just interviewing people who were nearby and know as little about what happened as I do. This is what happens when they have much more time than information.

I agree that internet news spirals things, but this does not take away from the tragedy of the event. For someone to think maiming and killing participants and spectators at a running event is the way to solve his or her personal or political problems is just f-ed up. It is like the terrorists at the '72 Olympics. International sport (and the Boston marathon is an international event) is supposed to be a way for people from different cultures, etc. to participate in something together. It is very discouraging to me when an event like this is what ends up being targeted.

I have no idea what issues the person or people that set these charges think they have, but this is not the way to resolve them.
