Confession: I love Tramp Stamps

I see tramp stamps where the nose ring or eyebrow piercing was a decade ago. A tramp stamp 10...15 years ago used to mean...well...self explanatory.

Now you have 18 year olds lining up for them as the first tattoo, more or less unaware of past .

"Ok, where would you like it..?"

"Um......oh! My lower back! Just like blah blah has!", unaware of what it previously implied.

Not that there is anything wrong with a lower tattoo, but it's just a little to en vogue and cookie cutter for me, fairies, tribals, ribbons, butterflies, etc much like males seem to love those "tribal" arm bands even to this day.

I think they can be very sexy or even just cool but the past has kind of ruined them. Just looking through pictures I have seen some really nice ones and of course some stupid ones. The problem is, the got the label so it is hard to pull it off and have it seem classy. That said, something delicate up the rib cage can be super sexy to me.

Saying that a lower back tattoo on a women means they are "dtf" or loose or any other sexually permiscous connotation sure sounds similar to the old 'she deserved it because she was dressed slutty' bullshit.

Yep. A woman having a tattoo likely just means she likes the tattoo. Any other meaning ascribed is probably coming from your own head.

Truth. But if they didn't judge people they don't know, how can they continue to preach about open mindedness and acceptance and their love of art? Except tattoo art that is to be dismissed out of hand. It must be tough to be so open minded and accepting; I would have a hard time keeping my double standards straight.

You nailed it Rev. There are quite a few self righteous jackasses here that have "open minds"...it would be hilarious if they didn't take themselves so seriously.

Well said!

Honestly I find 'em a little , and this from a guy that has a wife with a pretty good amount of ink.

I don't think anyone is saying that here, and really, the past associations have lessened since then as the popularity of the lower back tattoo has risen, but I think it's fair to say that a lower back tattoo is generally considered to the inked and the uninked to be related to sex, or sexy, and I really don't understand your jump about "she deserved it".

1. Lower back tattoos are not very popular. They went the way of tribal after the 90's. most tattooers I know won't do them.

2. If you don't think some are saying a lower back tattoo implies something, reread the thread including your last post.

I would say just calling them a tramp stamp implies something.

I know I said they are implying something. Sexy is different than slutty. I would imagine 90% of girls getting them would think that they are sexy, and that's a strong selling point for them to get a tattoo there. I think the implications of a lower back tattoo are obvious, though to a different effect than not so nice terms.

right here:

nothing says DTF like a strategically placed TS.

Think Joan Bennett with that Nazi chick Jesse James dated

I agree 100% w/ Rev; calling it a "tramp stamp" is pejorative term that many use to disparage the woman w/ the tattoo as a slut or loose morals.

What are these implications?

I've witnessed dozens of women get a lower back tatttoo and many of them got them because of a combination of they liked how it looked, it was a popular location, and it's easily concealed by most "normal" clothes.

Lol, oh, I didn't catch that in the OP.

That said, you fellas have a valid point, but I think the nickname has stuck, and the tattoos more likely than not generally have implications of sex associated with them, though with their rise in popularity taken into consideration, not quite to the extent they they once had.
