That's a new challenge

[Dexter Inferno]

Recording some drums for a new tune tonight. The bulk of the song is in 5/8 - yeah, I know.

However had the bright idea of doing the middle/solo section in 11/8. 6+5 is a good way to describe as far as counting goes. That's a hard one when you've gotten used to the 5/8.... Problem is there's a few pauses between riffs in that section, and turned out what I wrote was so rhythmically difficult to remember while tracking drums, so there was no way I could get it perfect in about an hour's time. So....guess I'll have to rearrange the guitars and bass to fit around the drums then.

Think that's the first time I've come up with something I'm unable to play in one or two takes on the drums. What a fucking idiot.

Good thing is I have a drum take that's in time (just the wrong time....), so I can salvage this one quite easily.

No, but there are plenty of other people's brilliant parts that I can't pull off.

Fwiw, for those not in the know... I routinely turn to micwalt whenever there's a part too high for me to sing - or a guitar part too technical for me to pull off within a short time period. The end result is always amazing.
