Bradley Cooper and Lada Gaga

I watched the film at the weekend, I thought he was dead? (Which can after all be rough on your mixed voice.)

She sounds pretty odd too, but not anywhere near as pitchy.

I find this soundtrack and the show "Nashville" to be very strange. Crazy Heart was the same way years and years ago.

There's like this idealized 'tasteful' or 'classic' sound that Hollywood folks think country music sounds like which it doesn't at all. It never does and never did.

It's like an alternate reality in which alt country bros (Jason Isbell, Lukas Nelson) and top 40 pop stars (Ronson, Gaga) fulfilled their fantasy of what would happen in they were in charge or for some reason working together against the common enemy (the MAGA man who rolls coal while listening country top 40 radio). In this scenario they heroically win back the blue collar worker from his miserable false consciousness. And he/she learns what REAL music is like and therefore why he votes against his interests.

I really like the Crazy Heart soundtrack, but I was already a Ryan Bingham fanboi prior to the film, so that certainly colored my perspective.

Also T. Bone...

But yeah, I see your point.

I roll coal to a Rawlings and Welch CD. One cup for spit and one for $50 bourbon.

We saw it live. He’s not an experienced professional singer in terms of performing on that level for any length of time. Great job for an actor. Not so great if he was a full time singer. From what I understand he learned quite a bit about performing music to do this film

Autotuning his vocals so he sounds good. Works for Taylor Swift!
Autotune really doesn't make your voice sound good at all.

Someone using autotune is not going to sound like Taylor Swift. As evidence, try singing one of her songs intentionally or unintentionally bad and then 'correcting' it to sound good. It won't.

I mean you can technically pitch correct a guitar solo too and it also will not sound good either.
