Superbowl Predictions?

Now that we know the final four teams, let's see who can pick the ultimate winner!

Here's my take:

AFC Championship Game: As much as I don't like New England, they are a playing magnificent football. The Colts are also playing very good football. While I'd rather see the Colts with the AFC Championship, I don't think they can beat the experience and explosiveness of Brady/Gronkowski. I pick NE to win this one 38-24.

NFC Championship Game: I don't have anything against either team, and think they are both great football teams on both sides of the ball. That said, with Aaron Rodgers hobbled by his calf, he's a sitting duck when the pocket collapses, as it is bound to do next weekend. Seattle has the Wilson/Wilson combo and Lynch, and with Russell Wilson's great mobility and accurate throwing, even while on the run, I have to give this game to Seattle. I think it'll be a lower scoring game than the AFC game. Probably 21-17 in favor of the birds.

Superbowl: This could be quite the match up. As good as Seattle's defense is, New England just has so many offensive weapons that I don't think they will be able to shut them down. The same can be said about New England's defense shutting down Seattle's offense. I think it's going to end up being hard hitting game that will be ultimately decided by a 4th quarter drive. I'm going to give this one to New England by a final score of New England 30, Seattle 28.

So there you have it.

I'm calling New England to win it all.

I have no idea, but if the Pats are in, I probably won't watch. I would like to see the Packers vs the Colts, but it will probably be the Pats and the Hawks.

I would much rather see the Colts vs the Packers. I'm just not sure that either of them is the better team left in their conference right now.

AFC Championship: I would love to see the Colts win (sorry NE fans), but I think that NE just has too complete of a team. I do think it will be a very close game because Luck is just that good of a QB that he can put that team on his back. But NE wins because of the home field advantage. 31 - 27.

NFC Championship: I am an unabashed Aaron Rodgers fanboi, but he has no mobility and Seattle has too good of a pass rush. Plus they have the better 'D'. Again - I think this is a close game but I see Seattle winning 27 - 24.

Superbowl: So NE - Seattle. It is very hard to repeat as SB champions. But Seattle pulls it off. They are peaking at the right time and they really do not have a weakness as a team. But this will be a nail biter - Belichick is a great coach and NE will be ready. Final score Seattle 34 - NE 31. And this game may go into OT.

No predictions. And don't tell me the odds. Wilson and co. need to prepare, and go 1 and 1 on this coming sunday. Then we shall see what is next. How things look on paper doesn't matter if you don't show up to play. I hope Unger's ankle is better as the O line is a big deal, and I hope that our D line has strong efforts to support the efforts of the rest of the D. It all works together.

There'll be tons of hype which I will take pains to avoid.
Your avoidance is duly noted. Probably will be tough in your neck of the woods. But I bet even I would be a bit overwhelmed by Seahawkness if was in Seattle right now, at least on a work day where I was not in tail-gate mode.

At my age, I have gotten pretty good at it. I don't mind the game, though I'd never watch it. The hype, however, is highly annoying and infiltrates everything, even NPR.

AFC Championship - Pats 41 Colts 20

NFC Champioship - Seahawks 24 Packers 20

Superbowl - Pats 28 Seahawks 14

I predict there will be beer and I will be let down by the commercials.
I have been less impressed with most of the commercials the last few years. Maybe I set my expectations too high. In any case, I have not seen the same level of cleverness that was exhibited a few years ago. And yes, there will be beer.

I'm predicting the Pats will break my heart yet again and somehow that foam-faced Eli Manning will be involved.
