The Thread of Repentance.

As much as we harsh and joke on the old b@njo. I love the shit out of Bela Fleck.

And harmonica too, for that matter. But that's another thread. Love me some Paul B, Kim W, Little W, and on and on. Forgive me Lords of the b-jo, for I have sinned. But mostly aginst those Dixieland motherfuckers.

Sweet Jesus and his whore of a mother (by ancient standards, she's cool in my book), that's music. Never saw a bass banjo. Really cool, and thank you for stuffing that vid in my face, I needed that.

Well, to be fair I bet it happens to bluegrass bands sometimes, though a banjo is a harder weapon to conceal.

Someone wisely pointed out in a thread yesterday that there are no bad instruments, just myopic musicians. No, it wasn't me, but it's super accurate.

I saw Bela and the Flecktones at Wolftrap years ago and they were just amazing. It was actually their Live Art album that got me hooked on the band. Next his appearance on Edgar Meyer's Uncommon Ritual lead to further ear stretching. Bela's Throw Down Your Heart movie is a must see for any music fan, especially world music. He goes to Africa in part to delve into the history of the banjo, but then really just looks at the origins and evolution of music in Africa. It's really cool with lots of amazing musicians.

Also, Abigail looks like Jon Anderson's younger sister...not that there's anything wrong with that.
