Come watch a train wreck

He's going to freehand route a several thousand dollar guitar with a Dremel.

Let that sink in for a second.

He's killing all chances of selling that ax for any kind of profit, or even breaking even to "try something". By all means, swap the pickups, but routing it, not smart. It is his guitar (and money) though, so whatever.
It's absurd, but it's his guitar to mangle and his money to throw away. As long as he doesn't try to hide the damage when he inevitably sells it...

I'm not real bent out of shape over amateur routing and stuff but the whole thing seems misguided.

I've given up on trying to find the one perfect guitar. I just appreciate each one for what it is and don't try to make it into something it's not.

A player really can't find a use for a great P90 guitar?

+1

I like my Jaguar, my Gretsch Double Annie, my Baja Tele, and my Les Pau Special for what they are. I knew what they would be like ahead of time, and have no desire to turn them into mutant Super-Teles, etc.. The guy didn't do his research before he bought a P90 loaded guitar. It seems like he expected it to sound like a permutation of your typical PAF loaded guitar for da blooze, and klassic rawk tones. Wrong! That guitar looks cool with P90s, and I bet it sounds like a million bucks. Why would he want to have another guitar of the same old same old? Sheesh!

and a Monkey Grip.

Weird that a pair of PAF voiced hum buckers that fit P90 cases is NOT acceptable. I guess that is TGP for you.

Well obviously they don't sound like TRUE PAFS because the spacing between the bobbins plus the width of the pickup produces a narrower focused pickup. It would sound like the weird love child of a Filtertron and a P90, which is obviously too fucking awesome for the OP.
