Come watch a train wreck

His guitar, he can do whatever he wants with it, right?

I
would start with DiMarzio P-100s, if I really didn't care for the the P-90s sound. After that I'd check some mini-hbs mounted in the rings that work with p-90 like on an LP Deluxe. If I couldn't get the sound I wanted, I wouldn't have any issues with putting in whatever pups made me happy.

Then again, I'd be okay with someone modding a real nocaster, a '54 Strat, a '59 LP, pre-war Martin, painting a 'stache on the Mona Lisa, or whatever else they want to do with their property.

I'm not real bent out of shape over amateur routing and stuff but the whole thing seems misguided.

I've given up on trying to find the one perfect guitar. I just appreciate each one for what it is and don't try to make it into something it's not.

A player really can't find a use for a great P90 guitar?

In six months somebody is going to post a TGP rant about how Doug makes shitty guitars that use poorly-cut pickguards to cover swimming pool routes that were cut with a screwdriver and a hammer. He’ll have photos of a black guitar he bought on Reverb to prove the point.

Fair enough. Absolutely right.

I also suppose that if Kate Upton were to consent to getting a Cleveland Steamer from Danny DeVito, that's fine too. I'm just not sure that her adoring fans would be thrilled to see the aftermath. I know I wouldn't.

Didn’t that already happen on It’s Always Sunny?

I love his moxie and willingness to chase what he wants.

If only we had more people who just sat around and talked smack about strangers .....

Or sell it and buy a model that has the pickups you want

He wouldn't. Believe me he's been PM'ing me like crazy before he bought it, after he got it and now on the conversion. I basically told him he was on his own if he wanted to go the way he is.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me in the least. I kind of like the PG design he cooked up, (I almost shared the version I've been contemplating but didn't want to let that cat out of the bag yet).

It's nice to know he remembers your name, Dave.

He's going to freehand route a several thousand dollar guitar with a Dremel.

Let that sink in for a second.

He's killing all chances of selling that ax for any kind of profit, or even breaking even to "try something". By all means, swap the pickups, but routing it, not smart. It is his guitar (and money) though, so whatever.
