What was your first concert?

Yes. 1978

They were supporting Tormato - one of those "In the Round" tour.

Edit: I started playing bass in middle school, and I was a huge Chris Squire fan at the time. Was so cool to see him play live.

Supertramp, San Antonio, 1977

It was after Even in the Quietest Moments came out, pretty great show. I can still remember it better than quite a few shows seen since then.

I saw that tour too when it came to Houston. It wasn't my first though. That was Jethro Tull in '77, Songs from the Wood tour.

We used to vacation every summer in Asbury Park NJ when I was a kid in the early to mid 70s...once, when I was 7 or 8 (so '72 or '73) we went to the Paramount Theater and saw Jay Black and the Americans AND Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons...

I got snuck into a club when I was 14 to see Twisted Sister...

My first rock show in a theater was Molly Hatchet at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie NY in 1981...

I never saw them play live, but bass player Dougie Thomson came by our house in 1982. He was in town and a close friend of my dad's friend. They all went to out dinner. I was on my way to a Van Halen (Diver Down tour) concert and barely got to say "hello". He autographed my turntable!

I've never told anyone about this odd encounter until now. messedup0

I think it was that slayer, megadeth, and anthrax tour in 1991(?) It was at alpine valley in 'sconny.

either that or the Poster Children, who were a kinda non-memorable (at least at this point, for me) indie band.. that was at a theater in madison(?)

Lydia Pense & Cold Blood, @ Marine World, probably 1972. First BIG concert was Dave Mason/Fleetwood Mac/Gary Wright/Peter Frampton/Robin Trower, Day on the Green 1975

My mother took 9 year old me to see Steely Dan in 1974. They became my favorite band that night and have remained near the top of my own personal rankings in the 40+ years since.

My first non-chaperoned concert was the Journey Departure tour in 1980. EDIT: that was a good concert; got laid for the first time in the parking lot afterward. Journey still holds a special place in my pants as a consequence.

Simon and Garfunkel in a high school auditorium in 1966 (or 67 - the Sixties are a bit of a blur). Sounds of Silence had hit but they were still performing without a band. It was there that I came to appreciate what a great guitarist Paul Simon is.

In 1969 I went to my first big outdoor concert - The Band at Merriweather Post Pavillion.

Steely Dan in 74 was a good catch - they didn't perform for years after that early period in their career, until '93 or so.

Back in high school, I used to hang out with this girl who was way too hot for me. Anytime Journey's Faithfully came on, she instantly became turned on. For some odd reason, every mix tape I had at that time had Faithfully almost every other song
