I'm giving up playing the guitar

I'm sure one could construct a robot that could do that, but why? The only thing I see and hear is speed. No interpretation, no soul, just blind repetition and muscle memory...

I think you guys are missing the point.

Wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to play like Yngwie, even if you had no desire to actually do so?

for me, the answer is no. he can keep the tendonitis he has from doing that for years.
and if you don't keep it up, then you loose it, which further aggravates the tendonitis.

The Screamin Swede still gets under people's skin. That means his impact will live forever. Deal with it fumble fingers. LOLOLOLLOLO

I'm fine knowing I will never play like Yngwie. I focus on playing clean. I enjoy fine melodies.

I would love to play like Yngwie. Speed is just one of the tools in his arsenal.

While that girl is no Malmsteen, she is only 9 years old. She absolutely has some skills.

9 year-old girl plays Yngwie - Far Beyond The Sun

Description says 2016, so she's 12 now?

I can't get my fingers to move that fast, why even bother at this point? I'm stuck with playing Malcom Young-style stuff

Malcolm Young stuff sold over 200 million albums....You do you and always try to get better.

no

playing like Django would be nice. Or Segovia. Or Tony Rice. Or John Fahey.

On a related note, I’ve never (and I mean never) heard anyone come close to nailing Jimmy Page. Idiosyncrasies are hard to imitate.

And that's the thing -- how many Japanese guitarists can you name? All of these kids can play that, but no one really cares at the end of the day. What are they doing with that ability? It's impressive, to a point, but there are a billion kids who can do the same.

Modern Saints freind Marty Friedman from Megadeath fame.

I saw a guy a few years back in a tribute band called Led Zep Again, who absolutely nailed it. He had the Page live slop down cold. Plus he had the moves and the dragon suit. It was something to behold.
They played the Rain Song, and it was amazing.
