I have had a facebook account for a while but have done nothing with it. I am a facebook dummie. I received a www.messenger.com post from my wife's account but it was not my wife. I played along for a while then called the author on it and they quit responding. Is there a way to determine the address of the author?

Sorry, I don’t have any advice other than, good luck. I hope your wife can get her FB account secured.
I have a FB account. But, I only check in a once or twice a year. Maybe, someone has hacked my account. I’ll find out when I do my annual check in next month.
FB has it’s own messenger app. It works within FB and as a separate app. I deleted it from my phone because it was annoying how it would pester me.

It’s more likely that someone cloned your wife’s account and is using the fake account to try and get in to your legit account.
Why? “Mo data. Mo money.” Is the short and most likely answer.
My thoughts/advice: once you get to the point of knowing their account/profile name, report them and block them.

Thanks. Full story, I used the actual Facebook messenger on my phone once. It was horrible/couldn't get rid of it. Was so happy when I got a new phone and it wasn't on it.That’s a perfect first reaction. Seriously. Kudos.
