A couple more live videos of my band

From our album release show earlier this year. These two are a bit on the heavier side, but not without their lighter moments. The second one has a string orchestra playing with us on part of the song.

I've still got about 6 tunes from the concert to mix the audio and edit the video for, so hopefully I'll post them over the next week or two.

I'm the one with the monstrous headless guitar. Andy (Kerouac) got to play on it at NAMM a couple weeks ago.

Is everything written/orchestrated/arranged? Do you guys do any improv within solos?

It's no more or less valid either way, but I was just wondering.

You have a very unique style. It must have been neat to do the show complete with orchestra.

Thanks for sharing!

Solos are all improvised. For the most part, everything is written out and arranged (music of that complexity with that many people it's somewhat necessary), however, there's some wiggle room for embellishments. The drum parts are just sketches, and our keyboardist, Steve Miller (not the space cowboy), throws in lots of fills and variations throughout on top of what I wrote for him to play.

It was a blast to play with them. It was also a colossal headache to put together and very expensive, but I'm glad I did it and I'm glad I caught it all on film. I've always had smaller string sections play in the studio on the albums, but this one I expanded to a full out mini-orchestra with brass, woodwinds, and orchestra percussion.

I've had a string quartet and a woodwind trio play stuff I wrote, but never played along with them. I am sure it was both a headache and an expense, but it looks like you have some great footage of the event.

I dig the hell out of your ambition. Also, it doesn't hurt that the music is good too.

:rawk:

That's cool. As a fan of progressive musics I understand the more rigid structure of music of this complexity, especially unison sections and/or when working with an orchestra. But it was actually the drum parts that instigated the question. And then I was also thinking of the keyboards as I know Wakeman, Emerson, and the like were regularly augmenting the tunes with inspired flourishes.

While appreciating the musicianship, Suspicions didn't grab my ear anywhere near as much as Shattered. Shattered is a great piece of music.

I dig it! The first track kinda reminds me of Acid Mothers Temple a bit, but obviously more prog and less psych.

So damn good.
I like all of it, including your guitar.
But due to my freeform background the drummer is my favo.
