A visit to C.F. Martin & Co.

Stopped by the factory in Nazareth, PA on my way home from NY the other day. Added about 30 minutes to the drive. Their website said they'd stopped doing factory tours due to COVID. However, when I arrive, the receptionist said they'd recently started them again, but I missed the last one of the day by about 30 min...damnit!

Anyway, here's some pics from the museum.

They also had a wall with several guitars for folks to play. There was a 12 string there that I really liked, but it was about $4k as I recall. Sadly, I left empty handed.

Ah, that sucks you missed the factory tour. You should go back sometime. I used to live in Bethlehem. I have been fortunate enough to go a number to of times.

Cool beans!

I toured the Collings factory just before the lockdown started. There is no museum to speak of, and the facilities overall are much more humble, but it was really interesting seeing the process in person.

I keep meaning to go up to do the tour. Some friends of mine are from that area and said it’s pretty cool.

And there is plenty to do in the area. You can scheme with some good beer and food at Bethlehem Breworks. There are regularly festivals of all sorts in Bethlehem.

When I lived in Phila I kept meaning to do the tour but didn't. Now I'm nowhere close.

I've done the tour. Pretty informal. I got to play one of the expensive ukes because I was the only one in our group that knew how to play.

Been meaning to take the Santa Cruz Guitars tour, will have to wait until they re open. Not likely to be anywhere near the Martin factory, but would love to if I was ever nearby.

Love Bethlehem Brew Works! We were there this past November when we were in the area.

Went to the National Museum of Industry and the Hoover Mason Trestle as well.

Bethlehem has done a fantastic job with that area.
