Question: Are any of you watching the tv show that is called 'Pistol'?

I binged the whole thing. Enjoyable but inessential.
The Chrissy Hynde and Vivian Westwood roles feel grafted on to make the scene seem less sexist than it actually was.
Similar whitewashing on racism and fascism in the punk scene.
The Bodies episode was disturbing
The music sounds great and the actors all do a good job, the period details and archival footage feel right.
I liked Sid and Nancy when it came out. I’m not sure how much I would enjoy Sid and Nancy today but I am confident that Sid and Nancy is a better film than Pistol.

I binged it yesterday too. The enormous amount of Chrissie Hynde definitely rang odd and seemed tacked on to add a major female character to what would otherwise be a bit of a beery blokey sexist sausagefest. The Viv Westwood stuff I think is probably more a lot closer to the reality in terms of actual importance.
I enjoyed the show a whole lot more than I thought I was going to. The 'Bodies' episode was probably the best one, and was absolutely harrowing. I don't think I'd want to watch it a second time. I liked it when you got to see the band through the eyes of fans, like Pauline, or the two girls from the North who run away to London to be punks, or the hotel worker who is their hostess for the hairdresser's convention who as soon as she clocks off gets all punked out and rushes in to watch them.
Maisie Williams was unrecognizable, she did a great job. The Bill Grundy show bit was great, and among the minor characters the actress who played Siouxsie Sioux was absolutely perfect. Just identical to the young Siouxsie in every way.
The Malcolm actor was spot-on, and the Nancy Spungen actress was really good too. I also liked the characterisation of Rotten, and the way things would often deflate or puncture his 'full of himself' self-image.
Oh yeah, the prison scene was good too.

Agree with all of the above. From what I've read, apart from the extra helping of Chrissie, it's pretty historically spot on.
One thing to add. I was entertained with the scene where Steve stays up on speed for 5 days to learn to play guitar. Should have tried that when I was younger!
