So I finally got a chance to watch this one. I saw the trailer a few months ago and it looked really creepy and promising. Apparently this thing has been getting a lot of buzz lately as a new cult classic or something.



I watched it last night and while I appreciate the fact that they were doing something different, I have not been more disappointed in a movie in a long time. What a letdown. One of the recurring comments I have seen is that the more imagination you have the scarier it will be, because it leaves a lot to the imagination. Well, I must not have a real good imagination because I was bored out of my mind. There were definitely some creepy parts that gave me a few chills, but for the most part I was bored stiff. I give it two out of five smurfcos.
 
I was thinking about Argento and Fulci through the whole trailer and then it flashed the 1973 at the end.
Looks weird.

I used to love that place but in Houston it kept moving farther away. And the one in New Braunfels did not survive the lockdown, so I guess the closest to San Marcos would be in Austin.

From my buddy that ran one of them for a while, one of the franchise holders in Houston area doesn’t get the culture at all.

I am going to revise my review upwards since I have been thinking about the movie a lot since I watched it. It's a grower for sure. I may not have been in the right mindset when I first saw it but the more I think about it the more I appreciate what it was going for. Let's say 3.5 smurfcos.

If you like horror I think it's worth a watch even though it might not resonate with you just since it's so different.

by the way, chatgpt shut down that songwriting function. Which I thought was it's best feature. I tried so many combinations and while they weren't great lyrics they're always funny. I'm not sure if it does short stories anymore either. I tried to get it to generate a family matters scene the other day and it was typing up some funny shit and it then it deleted itself at the last second fearing some violation or other.

I still need to watch this. At the time I didn't pay subscription for where it was playing. Hopefully it's free now.

I have not watched Skinamarink yet because I forgot all about it. Thank for reminding me.

Earlier today I watched Totally Killer, which was a 'Back to the Future meets Scream', fun time-travel high school slasher comedy.
