They start arriving in small numbers mid April. Their numbers peak in July and August. Most have gone by late August.

We’ve been feeding them for over 20 years. The numbers increased over time. I’ve gone through about 40 lbs of sugar so far this season.
We used to feed them here but for the most part you only feed a dominant one and the ones that snuck in when he/she was chasing off another. For little birds they sure are big fighters :catfight:

Consistency is the key. They memorize good sources of nectar.
 
The biggest group of hummingbirds came through draining the feeders completely each day. I refilled them at night. It was wild watching them come to feed every few seconds. The majority left all at once last week. Now we’re getting the late travelers and the feeders last 2-3 days before needing to be refilled.
