Bad GAS

Tried a lower end ESP LTD Les Paul type at my local shop and I loved the neck. Now I'm really gassing hard for one of the higher end LTD models.

I like the EC-1000 with the Floyd Rose http://www.espguitars.com/guitars/ltd-standard-deluxe/ec-1000fr.html even though I know I don't need a Floyd except for goofing around with it.

I love the look of the Viper 1000 as well http://www.espguitars.com/guitars/ltd-standard-deluxe/viper-1000-sd.html

Even the Phoenix 1000 is pretty cool http://www.espguitars.com/guitars/ltd-standard-deluxe/phoenix-1000.html

The M 1000 isn't too bad but don't love the headstock http://www.espguitars.com/guitars/ltd-standard-deluxe/m-1000.html

So anyone familiar with the LTD series? Seems like the 1000's are made in Korea and some say they have a higher quality than the lower ones from the ESP forums I've looked at and some reviews. Have only tried a lower end model and my store doesn't have any 1000 series. Would probably have to venture out to GC or Sam Ash  to try one.

How about EMG's? I'm not into the heavy chuga chuga chuga but like a more hard rock sound.

They seem well put together. Haven't messed with em much, though.

From what I understand, EMGs, like other pickup lines, come in many flavors from mild to super hot. Have to research the individual model, I guess.

Thanks, wasn't sure if EMG's were all the heavy type or not. I play some metal stuff but more like older 80's type. I'll have to look into them more.

I have heard some very good things about the EC-1000.

I know EMG pickups have the rep fro being for metal players only, but they make all flavors of pickups and have endorsements all over the music spectrum.

I've played a couple of the real 'blingy' ones, those with all the abalone binding, etc, and didnt care for them. But I've also played a couple of the 401 FM's that played real nicely. Elderly's has had a few of the 'real' ESP ones in a time or two, and those have always been good guitars.

Mystix has had a couple of the ECs hasn't he?

I have an LTD KH202 but that has the passive EMG HZs but the guitars nice enough

had odd hardware issues with the bridge paint corroding off and making the bolts un-unlockable but the bridge model is different on the ones youre looking at

I think I've tried the EC1000 one in a shop.

Nice guitar, actually.......well put together, attention to detail was good, electronics and hardware were good....not a bad guitar at all.

A bit Blingy for my tastes, but it was OK. Fealt a little generic, but not bad, by any means.

Think I will venture out to GC ot Sam Ash this weekend or next and see if I can find one to try out. Got tonsell my Godin first before I can do anything. CL has sucked for me on this one. Usually haven't had any trouble before.

pretty sure (90%) this one of othem that wowed me
slick as a whore's backside (I didn't wanna say backside, but twat seemed rude).
and the list (bear in mind, this is Canada, where everything costs more) was still very much within reason
and far better than other companies' gutars of like quality.

if yer really diggin' the Viper style, just buy an SG.

best guitar I've ever owned.
and it'll put anything from that company to shame

mind ya, the price shows it :embarrassed:

I think I have only played 2 ESP/LTDs over the years. They used to make a thinline Eclipse that I have played and I loved it. That along with an ESP vintage strat copy that was also very good. I like the looks of that Firebird clone.

I love 'em. I have two Explorers and previously had a 7-string Horizon. Right now I'm borrowing my buddy's Viper baritone. They're my favourite hard rock/metal guitars, but you'd be surprised where they might show up. I mean, Gary Blanchard has one. :embarrassed:

I am really digging them....will definitely pick one or two up once I get something sold. I like the LTD Strat copy with the Floyd and the Viper. Was thinking if I don't get the higher 1000 series, I can maybe swing two guitars.

I used to have an EC-1000 VHB that I really liked, aside for the "vintage" orange goo on the side of the binding. PRS did the same thing with their Ted series, which made me crazy... Anyhoo, I think that these LTDs are great guitars, and generally come with great pickups and hardware.
