Bleachers anyone?

A rare occasion I'm up and watching SNL and they actually have a decent band, Bleachers. I've never heard of them before, but quite enjoyed their first song. Dunno if I'll stay up 'til the end to see the second. Added bonus, their bass player is smokin' hot.

Edit: Was just googling some live videos and it looks like they've had some personnel changes. The female bassist appears to be a recent addition, or maybe she was just filling in tonight.

I’ll check it out if the video ends up on YouTube. SNL has shown some great music over the years. Zappa, Prince, and Ashlee Simpson!

Bleachers are just Jack Antonoff’s solo project. It’s basically him exploring a more indie sound, when he is not writing hit songs.

Yep. For @shoeless — Jack Antonoff is probably the most inescapable producer of the last 10’years (and certainly the last 5) when it comes to the intersection of pop and whatever it is that “indie” is. He’s collaborated with Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey frequently and to great success. He’s also been in the producer’s chair on the last two St. Vincent records.

His band Fun had some obnoxious pseudo-indie alt rock hits back in the late Aughts/early Teens.

Those SNL performances are total Boss cosplay. Like really solid cosplay, though. Maybe even at local small theater troupe doing a musical called “Candy’s Room” or “Hungry Heart” level of faithfulness.

For his next act, he should incorporate some old Hold Steady from back when they sounded ostentatiously like the E Street band. Jack, baby, here’s an opening couplet for that record…

My name’s Craig Finn but friends call me Diet Cherry Soda
Because I’m sweet but I’m fake and I’m gonna take it straight to the coda

And then you can do like 2 minutes of a sax humping a glockenspiel.
