Your premise was cool....That's my point..

Then long winded descriptions of this and that took over and my add wouldn't allow me to follow/concentrate

Cultural assimilation and appropriation, rather than imperialism, I think. Interesting part is that it's about America 60 years ago. Back when we were awesome and everybody liked us.
