Fashion Jam (Fathers day edition) : The dad look.

The bigger question is do you wear long running shorts, regular running shorts, or dolphin shorts? Long shorts for running just looks like you're confused about what sport you're doing or lost your basketball. Dolphin shorts are probably the most functional, but not appropriate if you don't look like the most serious gaunt runner.

these shorts scream out "I'm not a runner"

Don't wear these if you're only running 1 or 2 miles a day

These seem reasonable

Knowing inseam length in both long pants and short pants is important. The last pair looks like probably 5 or 6 inch. the dolphons are most likely 3 inch (shorty shorts) and the first are probably 9 or 10 inch. I wear 7 inch. anything longer is ridiculous , catches on your knees or causes itching.

My dad and step-mum just got back from a trip to Germany with a bunch of their other empty nester friends. Every single one of them wore either khaki pants or dad shorts, tucked in, with polos and hats. Lots of golf polos and hats too. :embarrassed:

About 95% of my clothes are given to me by my brother. He owns a skate shop and sends me free stuff. Some may see it as a “style” but unless cheap bastard is a style, I don’t have one. I’ve bought maybe 10 shirts in the past 10 years. I’ll wear whatever is given to me.
I love surf/skate shop clothes. Nice you get them free. They ain't always cheap.

BTW, at our local Costco, they had Hang Ten hybrid shorts, very much like the O'Neil ones I paid full price for at a surf shop in San Diego on vacation, for like $12 or $15. I can't remember which. Not cargo style, decent pockets, hang well, with an internal draw string, but not a bunchy waistline. They look pretty good, and are a good alternative to the cargo look.

O'Neils on the left, cheap Hang 10's from Costco on the right.

I like the surf/skate shop clothes and the rock climber brands like Piranha at REI. Those are actually much lighter and comfortable (but stupidly expensive).

The Prana stuff gets to looking entitle white yoga person-ish. But it is nice. I won a shopping spree at LuLuLemon, and found some really good layers and a pair of casual pants that look good and feel good. But definitely considered entitled white wear among some. Good quality stuff though. Like Patagonia (aka Patagucci) can be.
