I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread to post free music downloads in. For example, here's a freebee from WXRT radio in Chicago. It's a collection of cover songs that were done by Radiohead. Lots of great covers of Neal Young, Can, The Smiths, Portishead, Joy Division, Pink Floyd and others.

Swiss laws concerning ©opyrights allow to download and use everything as long it is for personal purpose only: be it music, movies, pictures or applications of any kind. One little problem is, the moment one downloads, he also uploads (or transmits) data p2p, and this is illicit ... but there's no known case of legal persecution.
But beware, playing cassettes, CDs or non provable provenience of data (USB sticks) pre gig after soundcheck e.g. could result in a fining up to CHF 1'000'000.- ... also publishing pictures processed on hacked PhotoShop (which i use since 2008) or dubbing music in own later published songs can be highly fined.
All other countries in Europe do persecute such absolutely merciless and provide special police squads therefore: 1 song could cost a fine up to 10'000€ then ...
