I've wanted an original Aristocrat for almost as long as I've been into guitars. I love the reissue one in black, but the new goldtop one looks quite good to me as well. I hope they do a natural/blonde one as the next "limited run" in that series. The original blonde ones make me weak in the knees.

I just got a Starfire IV from the same Newark Street line. The build quality is absolutely outstanding - on par with any US production line guitar I've owned. And the reproduction mini humbuckers sound remarkably like the 60s originals to my ears.

I'd prefer the plating to be chrome or nickel, myself...other than that, I'd like to take that one for a spin!

This guitar is on my short list. I'd rather have an original of course, but can't imagine spending $5k on one. After picking up my '67 Starfire IV, my Guild radar has been on 100%. I agree about the gold hardware, though. I'd much rather it be nickel or chrome.
