Hate to be callous about a tragedy...

That’s a shame.
I had a cousin who spent his entire late teen & adult years struggling with addiction until overdosing a few years ago. Sad conclusion to nearly 3 decades that took an incredible toll on everyone involved.

You are typically more compassionate and thoughtful than this in your posts. Lots of people who are not related to David Crosby have been addicted to opioids. They are incredibly addictive and powerful drugs.

Read Dreamland to learn more. (You probably have).

Well, it’s not just Crosby’s struggles with addiction. It’s his decades-long and well-publicized idiocy and assholery.

I wouldn’t say this if it had been a child from a romantic relationship but, FFS, they had other options.

Not judging the poor kid.

It’s the kid’s addiction problem, why not blame him? Crosby was once a kid and probably just lucky he didn’t die in his twenties. Let’s go back to the grandfather and blame him.

"Hate to be callous" but you'll shit on the dead just the same. You're a real piece of work. Working with addicts for 18 years there is one thing for certain it doesn't make a difference who your parents are or how squeaky clean their lifestyle is or has been. The first time you touch it can be your last day of freedom from it.

There is a chance he had a genetic predisposition to being an addict. I know it runs in my family. I don't know if he had money, but being able to afford drugs can be a problem.

I can't seem to find a post where he "shit on the dead". And for your follow up about addiction, that's not entirely true. And before you ask, yes, I currently work with SUD and Mental health and I have for many years. It is STRONGLY genetic, on both counts. Can someone without the genes smoke crack and become addicted immediately? Of course. Is it the norm? No.
The point here is why would you choose to create a human being from the well known bad genes of another when you had options. That's all I've seen @Flamencology really say in this thread.
I don't get the attack.

I am a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and know that genetics can play a role in addiction, but there are usually many contributing factors. Opiates in particular can quickly lead to a physical dependence. If one were to choose a sperm donor based on the idea that musical genes would be passed along it would be smart to assume that other genetic date would also be passed along. In the grand scheme of things, however, anyone can become addicted.
