Certainly there were "weird", avant noise, , experimental, etc version of Punk but the Clash were kinda their own thing were they not ? I mean...dub reggae, dance, pop, funk...who else was doing that as the MO

's funny, I was just today thinking about how effing great their first 3 records were.

Radio station here played a weird cover of Lost in the Supermarket, and it made me think of the first time I heard London Calling on the radio. Way back when.

But they lost me with Sandanista.

They had a song that was catchy when I was in high school. Then they fell off the face of the earth. Fender came out with a relic Tele many years later as a tribute. Then it fell off the face of the earth.

They don't seem to generate the Weinterest(TM) of a Jon Bon Jovi, Tool, or REM.

They were huge when I was in high school.

Compared to Sex Pistols they just sucked.
I once purchased Clash’s double LP London Calling and was chocked over how awful it was.

Hmmm, I wonder did Roy ever collaborate with The Clash in any way? I know Steve Jones from the Pistols went over to Roy's house and did a bit of songwriting with him.

Interesting thought. "Bankrobber" might have sounded good with Roy on vocals.

I believe Mick Jones did as well since he and Steve were cousins
