Help! Hey computer guys...

It's got a lot of bad reviews on amazon...blue screen, bios not the updated version, can't update from win10home to pro(if that's desired) etc....

I was just looking at those; that's disappointing. I've used Asus monitors and video cards for myself and others years and have not had a single complaint. Too bad their Republic of Gaming laptops don't seem to be as trouble-free.

If you revise your desired specs downward slightly (particularly in screen size), you'll find more likely candidates around your $1k budget. My last laptop, since given to my ex, was a 17.3" i7 and I honestly found the screen size somewhat unwieldy. If I ever get another laptop, I'll get a 15.6 for ease of portability and plug it into a larger standalone monitor if I need more screen real estate.

Yup, I'm open to other possibilities. I had mentioned the larger screen just as an upgrade to my current one. Some of my programs don't fit on that screen but it's a resolution issue more than a screen size issue.
