Kick Henry Jackassowski
someone is selling this for $3,000 on the Gear Page. It's gorgeous... it looks like it should be in a museum. I'd be afraid to own it for fear of putting a dent or getting sweat on it...

not to hijack my own thread, but are you going to watch the fireworks over the Hudson? I did that a few years ago and it was great... probably old hat to you though...

I would love to be able to own that guitar... I would treat it like I treat all my guitars... spill beer on it, sweat all over it, knock it off the stand, drool on it, run into the drums and bass player, and generally use the guitar to rock out, not giving a shit about the shitload of dings I would create in that beautiful new guitar finish...

no. we've gone in years past when it was over the East River. but it's 97 degrees outside and it's gonna be packed. so instead we walked around Central Park for a couple of hours this morning. and we have tix for tomorrow's Mets game where there will be fireworks.

This.

As long as they're well-maintained, string instruments that are heavily played, worn, and subject to occasional abuse always seem to play and sound better. I have to admit that I'm a lot more cautious with my more valuable acoustics, especially my classical, as it was made by an important luthier who's been dead for a decade... but I always try to make peace with the fact that if your guitar is loved and played, it will get hurt.

Pretty much how a Les Paul should look  I'd play it properly, guitars aren't made for looking at in a case somewhere. Once the first ding is out of the way it's ok :)

I've always felt like a guitar gets "played in" over the years if it is used on a regular basis. Might be my imagination but instruments that I've bought new usually seem to sound better after a few years.

I've gotten better about how I treat my gear in recent years but shit still happens if you take them out of the house. :)

A black beauty on the other hand...

Hardtail BBs are my favorite LPs, also.

It's one of the only real instances I can think of where gold hardware actually works, aesthetically. Probably because it's not overdone... add gold knobs, and the whole look would fall apart.

Yeah, I'm not saying that anyone should go and try to age a guitar prematurely, or anything.

Although I ended up with a "roadworn" telecaster, because it happened to be the best of about 40 that I played, so what do I know?

The sad thing is that I played a Roadworn guitar at NAMM last year with HelpI'maRock! and it was one of the better feeling and playing instruments I've tried from Fender in many years. I can see how you can end up with one after playing a bunch of Teles. It would be nice if Fender could just make a guitar that plays and sounds like that without the fake aging, though.
