Dig it! Incoming :o...er, outgoing...

Cool. How do the Hilotrons sound?

Well, funny enough, a few years back I had the 5622 with the three pickups and the cat's eye soundholes, and for whatever reason, I did not care for the HTs - they sounded a bit dark/muffled. The guitar also was heavy as shit. FF to a few weeks ago at Sweetwater, and I plugged into a Katana no less, and they sounded VERY good - open and well-balanced. Sounds wonderful with dirt, too.

I'm wondering if somehow the three-pickup version's wiring scheme is detrimental to the output; even though you can switch the middle pickup off, maybe the way that circuit is darkens the tone...

Welp, I’ve decided to RA this thing. The HiLoTron pickups are just too dark, and I ain’t messing around with those. Plus, the neck is a bit thin, and I don’t know if I like center-block guitars with Bigsbys. I will, however, soften the blow for my SW rep, as I have something else in mind - something I should have gotten originally.

Sometimes, versatility can come in shockingly simple form factors...
