My class tonight.

Tonight was the final class of the semester and my students gave their final presentations. I was really impressed with the topics they chose and the information they shared.

I was thanking them for a great semester when a student spoke up to give me a gift from the class. QPart of it is a Grateful Dead quilt with the album covers on it. There is also a box with a soy candle, some natural soap, a pair of patterned socks, and a leather bound journal. I am so blown away by their thoughtfulness.

Watching the news saps my faith in humanity, but acts of kindness like this reminds me that there are a lot of good people out there.

No, but I was close to it. The funny thing is that I didn't out myself as a Deadhead until tonight, when I showed up in a Grateful Dead Christmas sweater. I guess showing up in Birkenstocks with socks outed me.
