Question: My Foot hurts?

I think.

I've been having a problem with one of my feet that's making it very hard to work out or lose weight.

The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to describe it to my Dr correctly.
He told me that it was Plantar fasciitis and gave me some exercises, but it's not hurting on the bottom of my foot.

It's the top of my foot through the ankle/shin? and feels like it goes to the knee.

Anybody have any ideas on 1. What it may be, or and 2. How best to communicate it to my Dr in the 8-10 mins he gives for a personal interview?

I want it to go away, so I can get off my ass again. This hurts whenever I start doing any walking for anything more than a few mins.
It even bothers me when I switched to exercise bike.

Did he rule out shin splints?

I honestly don't know.

It was as quick as "my foot hurts."
"Here's an exercise, next."

I've scheduled a follow-up because I wanted more info.

I have to walk uphill each morning to work from the MGH redline stop to Charles River Plaza. Would that cause shin splints?

Sounds like the pain isn't localized to the foot but rather, it radiates like a shin splint. If the Doc didn't get a clear understanding of the pain, and where it's felt, he may be under the impression that it's a foot issue when it isn't. Perhaps providing him with better info Wilkinson yield closer scrutiny.

I have plantar facitis and you would feel it on the bottom of your foot, not really anywhere else. Maybe sounds like shin issues, maybe you have some bone spurs or shin splits like OGG mentioned.
