New gaming machine inbound.

I've been unwinding late at night playing The Division 2, which is oddly soothing after a stupid long day of video conference meetings. My old computer is an old PC that can barely handle the game on low settings at 1080p. Switzerland ended the lockdown on Monday, but there are still significant rules about leaving the house for non-essential activities, and I am to work from home until at least June 8, and probably July 8, so I have a lot of time in self isolation to blow. The economy is open, so I ordered a better computer to pass the time.

The machine is made by a local Swiss company called Joule. They focus on the super high end space, like $10K machines, but they have an entry level line up for the more realistic user. This is from their entry level machine line up. The specs are pretty average gaming PC, but it should do a lot better than what I have now.

Intel i7 9700 with liquid cooling
ASUS MOB-TUF gaming
16 GB RAM DDR4, with heat sink cooling
1 TB SSD X 2, Samsung EVO
NVIDIA RTX2070 Super video card, ASUS ROG tuned
ASUS Strix Keyboard and mouse

Should be a lot better than the current system. It has cool RGB lights so I can game like my kids. :)

Jeez, what if your water pump goes out?

Looks like fun.

I have no idea. I guess that is time to upgrade everything below the piping? Looks like the video card would be the first to go in a water pump failure.

I asked about this and the guy told me the system is sealed as supplied by the manufacturer so leaks are not really likely. The system has a pump monitor that would limit CPU activity in the event of a failure to recirculate water, plus the backup of the CPU temp limits as part of the bios.

Are you kidding? That machine will run circles around any of theirs. Even if it didn't have the RGB. First upgrade.... add another 16Gb of system RAM. Have fun with it!

That is not an average gaming PC. That is literally all you need for any software on the market right now.
I've been toying with getting one for a while now and then I end up playing C&C Red Alert with my brother online for hours at night and think, "Nope, still don't need to spend the money yet"

Do you think 32 Gb is worth it? It seems pretty cheap to add more. The builder told me I could add 16 more (2 x 8 gb) for like 70 bucks for aluminium heat sink Corsair ram, or like 90 if I want RAM with LED/Aura sync lighting and heat sinks.

It all depends on what you are going to use the machine for. It's a good idea if you are gonna do video editing and audio processing among other things. Gaming at high resolutions...2K/4K will let you load data faster and help reduce slowdowns.

No matter how much I start out with, the first thing I always want to upgrade in any pc is the RAM.
For 70 to 90 bucks, I’d be all over it.

:baimun:

...I'm waiting for delivery of a RAM upgrade for my home gaming laptop right now as a matter 'o fact.

Color me jealous. My 14 year old and I were discussing a build this weekend. It will likely end up a Christmas present for him but I'll get to use it.

If you ever end up trying Destiny 2 (New Light is free-to-play) be sure to HMU and I can help you get started. I know several Destiny streamers are big Division 2 fans.
