Postage was $21 on top of the $30 for the slide. At the exchange rate at the time, that was cheaper to get than to order it from Thomann who were the only people I could find in Europe stocking them.

That's the primary benefit of using a slide on your pinky. Sonny Landreth (a few before and many others since) will play additional notes or even chords concurrently with/behind the notes their hitting with the slide. I've dabbled, but my abilities are weak. For us mere mortal sliders, this seems like a good option.

To the thinner barrel, I would think it would require even more precision than a bottleneck style (regardless of material).

Good points.

I'm using this occasionally on my normal guitar which has a relatively low action. To start fretting behind a slide, I'd need to raise the action significantly and probably dedicate that guitar to playing slide. That's not what I'm after but everyone has different needs/aims.

As to precision, I'm now finding it easier with the Jetslide than I ever have with a bottleneck. Given I have never found a bottleneck that felt comfortable and sounded good though, again, your mileage may vary.
