NFL 2014 Season

First NFL preseason game is 2 days away. :embarrassed:

I hope the Bolts get off to a good start this time, but it's going to be tough. Not just our division, but we play the NFC west this year too. Ugh.

Woops. Looked at the Bear's schedule, not everybody's. Closer than I thought.

Lions Fan reporting for Duty......

Looks like Stafford has some interesting targets to pass to with T.J. Jones (Notre Dame), Golden Tate (Notre Dame), Kevin Ogletree, and of course Calvin Johnson. Back that up with rushing from Reggie Bush, Joique Bell, and Theo Riddick (Notre Dame) and there's some serious muscle on the field this year. :baimun:

The Lions were so bad, for so long, they have been at the head of the line, draft day, for a long time. They have some great players, it'll be interesting what the new coach can do with them.

1. Eagles fan here. I'm expecting them to win the division and one playoff game.
2. Lions. Hoping to see them in the playoffs as a wild card.

The AFC West will be determined by Peyton Manning. I hate to say it, but he is the ultimate wild card in the division.

If he stays healthy and accurate, Broncos roll through everybody. If not, the Bolts and Chiefs will slug it out.

I watched every minute of the induction ceremonies. I love this stuff.

I root for the Eagles, but the fans at the stadium are the worst.

LOL....I guess that depends on your POV. I wouldn't show up in a Cowboys jersey, lol......wasn't the Vet the first stadium to institute a court in the basement?
You, you, you and you....go directly to jail. Do not pass go, do not go to the parking lot, do not go to the cheesesteak stand.......

Philly fans are passionate. It's a lot different in the new stadium, and although I haven't been to the Linc, I have a buddy who is a season ticket holder. He says they've really cleaned up the atmosphere, but I have also heard some stories where the more things change, the more they stay the same......

am I alone in thinking that pro football is no longer sport, or even interesting, what with the interminable TV interruptions, overwrought commentary, 'parity' (ie league-wide mediocrity) and vaudeville-like 'personas' of all the players- and I'm not talking about beatings in bars, of girlfriends, questionable recreational choices, drug abuse, etc etc? it seems to be more like tv wrasslin' done by convicts than the game I recall (and I'm not that old).

TV really ruins sport. contrast, for example, the World Cup games with the typical nfl game for action, flow, spontaneity, general athleticism (granted there are great -one dimensional- athletes in the nfl), or something like Tour de France...

Cool Earl-I share your thoughts exactly. Was a huge fan but becoming very annoyed by it. I'll catch a game here and there but won't go out of my way for it

Along those lines....I really do NOT like all the celebrations, the "look at me" antics in the NFL.

Seems like after every single tackle, even a mediocre one that it is your JOB to make, someone is jumping up and down and making an ass of themselves.

It never used to be like that.....I would be embarrassed if I was the coach of some of these teams.

You're losing by 28 points, you make a good tackle, and you start jumping up and down like "You're the Man!". No....you're a fucking toolbox.

I'm not sure who said it but "After you score a touchdown, act like you've been there before."

WWWPD?

What would Walter Payton do?

You make a nice play, great.....hand the ball to the ref, and jog back to the huddle....next......

I love football. I'm not a sports guy, football is the only sport that holds my attention. I do agree with some of what you say though. When spygate happened, and not much came out of it, It made it seem like pro wrestling. Like the games, the season have a predetermined outcome.
